What is Neighbour Day?

Neighbour Day is an annual event celebrated in communties and neighbourhoods across Calgary on the third Saturday of June. This year, it takes place on June 21st!

Community-hosted Neighbour Day events encourage Calgarians to get to know their neighbours and build stronger, more connected, communities.

Inspired by the incredible resilience and community spirit created out of the 2013 floods, Calgarians declared the first Neighbour Day in June 2014 as a way to commemorate and celebrate our resilience and neighbours supporting neighbours.

Neighbour Day is about connection, reducing isolation and building communities where everyone feels supported. So get off your porch and get to know your neighbours! You might be surprised at the friendships waiting to be made right next door!

Connect with Your Community Association

Community associations are the heart of community. Typically made up of volunteers who are passionate about their neighbourhoods and want to make a positive impact, they play an important role in bringing residents together, fostering a sense of belonging and connectedness and creating a shared vision for the future of the community.

Overall, community associations are an essential part of any healthy neighbourhood. They help to bring residents together, advocate for local needs and create a sense of belonging and community pride.
