At Friends of the Federation, we are proud to support neighbourhood projects that bring people together and strengthen community connections. One inspiring example is the Killarney-Glengarry Mural Project, created in partnership with the Killarney-Glengarry Community Association.
This project started with a simple goal: bring community members, students, and local artists together to design a mural that reflected the spirit of Killarney/Glengarry.
Two local artists led the creative process. Students from Killarney School and Alternative High School joined workshops that gave them hands‑on creative experiences—from painting animal cut‑outs for the garden to learning DIY sticker‑making and spray‑painting techniques. These sessions sparked excitement and helped students connect with art in new ways.
The project was not without challenges. Weather events, location changes, and personal health obstacles all shifted the original plan. But these setbacks strengthened the team’s commitment.
Today, the mural stands as a symbol of resilience, creativity, and neighbourhood pride. We are honoured to have played a role in supporting a project that continues to bring joy and connection to the Killarney community.
