The Haysboro Community Association hosted a Holiday Luncheon in December 2025, bringing together seniors and other community members from Haysboro and surrounding neighbourhoods for a shared holiday meal.
A total of 73 people attended the event and enjoyed a catered turkey dinner and dessert from the Carriage House Inn and Meals on Wheels. Guests were welcomed, shown to their seats, and served a plated lunch in a relaxed and festive setting.
Small details helped make the afternoon enjoyable. Cookies and chocolates were placed at each table setting, everyone took cookies home, and door prizes and holiday carols around the piano added to the celebration.
A key part of the day was the involvement of students from the Woodman School leadership class. Students and a teacher volunteered during the event, greeting guests, serving meals, and helping with cleanup. Their participation created opportunities for different generations to connect and spend time together.
Thanks to a Navacord Action Grant, the luncheon was open to everyone, with the option of purchasing a $10 subsidized ticket or a $25 pay-it-forward community ticket. Community members were welcomed whether or not they had a ticket
The Holiday Luncheon gave community members a chance to gather, catch up with old friends, and meet new people. The event received positive feedback from attendees and demonstrated how a simple community gathering can help bring people together during the holiday season.
