We are proud to support our members through charitable partnerships that create meaningful community connection. One of the projects we were excited to champion in 2024 was the Calgary Evergreen Community Association’s Multicultural Festival, made possible through our charitable partnership and a Calgary Foundation Neighbour Grant. This event brought neighbours together to celebrate culture, learn from one another, and build stronger relationships across the community.
Held on September 28, 2024, the festival featured display booths representing nine countries—including Canada, North Macedonia, Hungary, Poland, Israel, China, the Philippines, India, Argentina, and an Indigenous Peoples table—each offering national foods and interactive cultural activities. The event was enriched by Indigenous Elders, whose blessings, storytelling, drumming, and dancing added depth and meaning to the day. The festival also welcomed official speakers, including MLA Eric Bouchard and Councillor Dan McLean.
More than 400 people attended, and the festival showcased performances from 10 cultural groups. An impressive 80% of the performers were youth, with the youngest dancer—only two years old—from the Nadihegedu Hungarian Folklore Society. CECA’s strong collaborations with cultural groups, volunteers, and local partners ensured a smooth and memorable event
“On behalf of the Calgary Evergreen Community Association team, including our Board Directors, members, and volunteers, we express our sincere gratitude to the Calgary Foundation, Neighbour Grants, and the Friends of the Federation of Calgary Communities for their steadfast support. Your commitment to promoting multiculturalism and supporting community associations strengthens our community and fosters a vibrant, inclusive, and dynamic society. We greatly value this partnership and look forward to future cultural celebrations together.”
