Deer Ridge is an outer suburb of Calgary located in the southeast sector of the City. Although Deer Ridge is not directly adjacent to Fish Creek Provincial Park, residents of this community have access to the park via Bow Bottom Trail, Canyon Meadows Drive or the pathway. The vehicular transportation routes also provide access to other parts of the City and to the Downtown, which is approximately 15 kilometres northwest of Deer Ridge. This predominantly single family residential community began to develop in 1978, after being annexed in 1961.
Deer Ridge facilities include two outdoor ice rink surfaces for shinny and leisure skating, four playgrounds and two tennis courts. In addition to park areas there are also multiple soccer fields and a baseball diamond. From spring to fall the Deer Ridge Community Gardens are very popular. The eastern edge and upper south-side of the community features a designated area for off-leash dog walking. There is a vibrant shopping and services area within the community which includes multiple retail stores, pet services, restaurants, banking, as well as personal health & improvement.
A Community Association membership is a great way to support your community. Membership is inexpensive and voluntary; contributing to the upkeep of Deer Ridge Community facilities and supports programs and events such as Movies at Yellow Slide Park, Family Winter Skate Day, Summer Community Festival, Children’s Christmas Party, Youth Red Cross Babysitter’s Program, Community Planning & Development, Community Safety/Clean-up and Planning & Development. Deer Ridge is a Trico Centre Community Partner.
