Over the summer, the Northern Hills Community Association (NHCA) brought neighbours together for a free Canada Day celebration in Coventry Hills, creating a day of music, family fun and community connection.
The 2026 celebration marked NHCA’s first event in Coventry Hills since 2024, welcoming hundreds of residents to the Coventry Hills Community Garden. With a playground and basketball court nearby, the location offered the perfect setting for families to gather and enjoy the festivities close to home.
Live music and special performances entertained the crowd. Families also enjoyed snacks and drinks, a photo booth and giant games of Connect 4 and Jenga, giving everyone plenty of ways to join in the fun.
For many residents, having a Canada Day event right in their neighbourhood made celebrating more accessible. Not everyone can travel downtown for the festivities, and this free, community gathering offered a convenient way for neighbours to celebrate together.
Beyond the music, games and refreshments, the event helped raise awareness of NHCA and its work in the community. With support from the Navacord Action Grant, NHCA was able to create a welcoming space for residents to connect, enjoy some much-needed summer fun and celebrate Canada Day together.
