- Dr. J.K. Mulloy School
- Summer 2026
Staff and students at Dr. J.K. Mulloy School recognized that simple changes to their environment could encourage safer walking and active travel. They collaborated to create vibrant sidewalk designs to make routes around the school more welcoming and engaging.
With support from an ActivateYYC grant, students worked alongside staff, School Council members, parents, and community partners to bring their vision to life. Along the way, they gained valuable experience in planning, collaboration, and community engagement—including connecting with neighbours to share their ideas and listen to different perspectives.
The Paint the Pavement project is a great example of how collaborative projects can strengthen communities, promote active living, and create lasting local impact. By involving a wide range of participants, Dr. J.K. Mulloy School transformed their environment and built stronger relationships.
