Lakeview Community Association collaborated with the Jennie Elliot School, local residents, and local artist Sheila Kernan to activate and beautify a busy stretch of road between the school, North Glenmore park, a dog park, and residential areas. They used colourful paint, patterns, signage, and seating to make the area feel more safe and pedestrian centric. The project team set up a “talk back” station, where folks could provide ideas and feedback for the project while it was ongoing.

Volunteers of all ages helped paint the pavement including children, seniors, parents, and local residents. During painting, many local residents who were walking, biking, or driving through stopped ask about the project. Some residents were so enthusiastic about the project that they went home, put on their painting clothes, and returned to join in and help.
