When Neighbour Day rolls around each June, we are always hoping for nice weather. Unfortunately, this year it was rained out, so Northern Hills Community Association had the brilliant idea to host an even bigger Neighbour Day Do Over & Kite Festival! The combined event in early August was even bigger and better than they imagined! While the weather didn’t fully cooperate, the event was a welcome bright sport despite the overcast skies.

Over 20 kites were built and flown. The Calgary Fire Department dropped in for a visit. Residents enjoyed a concert by Matt Masters and snacks. Lawn games, sports and disc golf demo engaged residents of all ages. And residents got an opportunity to mix and mingle with local community partners and organizations.

Many residents across their five neighbourhoods – Country Hills, Country Hills Village, Coventry Hills, Harvest Hills and Panorama Hills – gathered to connect and enjoy a carefree afternoon.

This event provided a great opportunity for Northern Hills to bring its five neighbourhoods together. Residents were able to enjoy a great day close to home, instead of having to drive somewhere else.

With (decent) weather, and a brilliant idea to bring these two events together, Northern Hills got to gather, enjoy and celebrate what it means to be neighbourly.
