This summer, two pay-what-you-can concerts brought the Brentwood Community together for a great cause. Together, they enjoyed local music talent and helped their neighbours by restocking the Brentwood Little Free Food Library and Veterans Foodbank.
A Big Turnout
Both concerts had an amazing turnout, with about 70 people at each one, from kids as young as 5 to adults as old as 85. They collected both cash and food donations, making a real impact for both local foodbanks. The donations from the July 20th concert alone, featuring the Alberta/California band Tremoloco, filled the trunk of a Honda Civic for the Brentwood Little Free Food Library. The concert also collected a $50 donation for the Calgary Food Bank.
Highlighting Young Artists
Not only did these concerts help restock community foodbanks, but they also helped showcase emerging young talent! Brentwood was thrilled to host new local talent, like 17-year-old Casey, who was the lead performer at the August 10th concert.
Thanks to a Lloyd Sadd Action Grant, Brentwood Community Association was able to make these events accessible to all members of their community by offering “Pay What You Can” tickets.
The Brentwood Community Association is excited to continue the summer tradition of supporting food banks through music.
