Spruce Cliff is a Ward 8 primarily residential community, lying between Bow Trail SW and the Bow River Escarpment immediately west of the Shaganappi Golf Course, annexed in 1910, but not developed until the 1950s

Views of Nose Hill Park, the River Valley and the city core are available to all from the community escarpment on many walking and biking options available in this active outdoor community. On the community’s door step, shared with the entire city, are recreational opportunities of Lowery Gardens in Edworthy Park, the Quarry Road Trail and Douglas Fir Trail hiking paths, and winter community access to Shaganappi Golf Course for cross country skiing.

The Community park space has public basketball courts, an open field for sports, picnic tables, and a Joint Use Community Centre that accommodates the Community Association, the Bow Cliff Seniors, and the Calgary Lawn Bowling Club. Spruce Cliff Community park area is also the home of the Wildflower Arts Centre and the location of the annual Greek Festival.

Spruce Cliff provides residents with easy access to downtown via the Bow Trail collector and the West LRT. A dedicated primary walking/bike route also links Spruce Drive and Quarry Road Trail to the Bow River Pathway on route to the city center, or post-secondary schools on the north side of the river.  The community is within easy walking distance to the Westbrook Shopping Centre, the West LRT and the community library,

In the community are the Quest School, (formerly Spruce Cliff Elementary), Alberta Health Community Services, Bow Cliff Seniors, the Calgary Bowling Club, and Spruce Centre- a small community strip mall.

In the Area are Wildwood Elementary School and Westbrook Shopping Centre, the Shaganappi golf course, the Westbrook LRT and Westbrook Library (formerly Shaganappi Library).
