The Richmond Knob Hill Community Association really cares about our planet. They want to help people in their neighborhood understand climate change and work together to do something about it.
Shannon, the Communications Director at Richmond Knob Hill Community Association (RKCA), had a unique idea: why not teach kids about climate change using a puppet show?
Using a small ClimateReadyYYC grant, RKCA partnered with WP Puppet theatre to put on a show all about the water cycle. They showed children and their families where water comes from, and why it’s so important to protect our water sources. They also talked about how climate change affects our water and why it’s so important for us to save water.
The kids and their families who came to the show loved it! They learned a lot while having fun.
After the show, they brought their learning to life by making their own puppets! Everyone got to make their own puppets inspired by water or nature. The children used their imaginations and what they learned from school, the puppet show, and their own lives to create amazing puppets.
This event shows how a little creativity and a clever idea can help teach kids about climate change.
