Leslie Evans

Executive Director

Leslie is a born and raised Calgarian. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and Management, a Certificate in Human Resource Development and a master’s degree in Management focusing on Voluntary Sector Leadership. Throughout her career, she’s worked for a variety of organizations from social services and community services to capacity building and at the local, provincial and national levels.  Leslie has dedicated her career to the non-profit sector for more than 25 years, and has been our dedicated and fearless leader since 2007. Did you know Leslie brings her two dogs to work with her every day? Charlie is a shitzu pomeranian and Winston is a mini pinscher chihuahua!

Lori Winder

Administration Assistant

Lori has a Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science. After some time in the field of immunohematology, then some time at home with her children, she made the career switch into office administration to lead a more balanced lifestyle. After working for another community focused non-profit organization, she joined our team in 2010. As our Admin Assistant she does it all – keeping our office running smoothly and keeping us all sane! Alana-Dawn Eirikson

Member Services Coordinator

Alana-Dawn has a Master’s degree in social work, specializing in international and community development, and a Bachelor of Arts  in international development with a focus in environmental sustainability. Prior to joining our team in 2018 she worked and volunteered in the non-profit sector for 8 years. She’s responsible for helping our members learn and understand board governance, organization development, compliance requirements, and much more. Ariam Wolde-Giorgis

Engagement & Partnership Coordinator

Ariam has a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a concentration in Ethnicity, Immigration, and Multiculturalism and was named one of the 20 Compelling Calgarians for 2016 by the Calgary Herald, and received the Achievement under 40 Award at the Immigrant of Distinction Awards 2015 by Immigrant Services Calgary. She joined our team in 2013 with more than 10 years experience of volunteering with Calgary-based organizations. She’s responsible for educating our members on what it means to be welcoming and inclusive and building partnerships that support community leaders and organizations. Toun Osuntogun

Urban Planner

Toun has a Masters of Planning from the University of Calgary and a Bachelor of Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo. She worked in High River after the 2013 Alberta floods which is what inspired her to go back to school to get her planning degrees so she could help shape the way neighbourhoods and communities are planned. She joined our team in 2019 as an urban planner who helps educate community associations on the planning process here in Calgary and advocates for their role in the process. Adeniyi Adeaga

Energy Manager

Adeniyi is a Professional Engineer with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria. He moved to Canada for graduate studies in 2009, earning a master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from Dalhousie University in Halifax. He worked as an engineer in the Alberta oil and gas industry for over five years before heading to Texas Tech University for another master’s degree in Systems & Engineering Management. Joining our team in 2019, he’s responsible for working with community associations to help them understand and become more energy efficient. Did you know Adeniyi has an extreme fear of snakes? A fear so strong it once sent him to the hospital!

Nicole Braun

Communications Coordinator

Nicole joined our team in 2018 with a diploma in Print and Online Journalism from SAIT Polytechnic and a Bachelor in Communications from the University of Calgary. Nicole enjoys volunteering her time at Inn from the Cold and I Can for Kids. Her role is responsible for our social media, event planning, storytelling, and supporting all internal and external communications.

Kayleigh Kernaghan

Web Designer and IT Support

Born and raised in Calgary, Kayleigh has just completed her Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. In her role as a Web Designer she will be helping to add new features to the current website, along with beginning to plan the new website. In her role as IT Support, she will be helping to link databases, set up a new server, and various technical tasks. Growing up, Kayleigh’s hobbies mostly centered around tinkering and figuring out how technology worked. This lead to her being that kid in school who knew how to run the TV/Projector when the teacher didn’t. Did you know that Kayleigh also has a musical side? She took piano lessons for 10 years, joined the school band for 3 years playing trumpet, and can normally be found listening to music regardless of what she is working on.

Jacey Conway


Jacey Conway is an Airdrie resident and just completed her 1st year of journalism at SAIT Polytechnic. She has a passion for writing and photography and will be interning for the duration of the summer as a storyteller. When she isn’t writing, Jacey enjoys drinking coffee and spending time with her friends and family. She looks forward to graduating from SAIT in 2020 and starting up her own freelance social media branding company. Mackenzie Johnson

ActivateYYC Coordinator

Mackenzie is a Communications student from Mount Royal University, joining the Federation team over the summer as the ActivateYYC Coordinator. She will graduate with a Bachelor of Communications – Information Design at the end of 2019, a degree that combines visual and communication design with a human centered, process-driven approach. She has been in Calgary for four years and can often be found with a coffee in hand jumping in to yet another project. Did you know Mackenzie spent a semester abroad in the UK? She split her time between museums and coffee shops.

Ming Yu


Ming graduated from Concordia University with a major in accounting and has a Bachelor of Commerce. Before she joined our team in 2014, she had been working in a public accounting firms for 3 years. She also used to be an internal auditor for 7 years in her home country of China. As our accountant she maintains our financial records and provides financial information and reports to management and external users. Did you know Ming was chased by an ox on her way home from elementary school?!

Heidi Brauer


As an experienced CMA with a number of degrees under her belt, Heidi has more than 20 years of non-profit audit experience. She founded our audit program in 1993 after recognizing a need within smaller organizations for professional audit services at affordable prices. She also recognized a knowledge gap in volunteer board members and developed sector specific workshops and one-on-one learning opportunities for understanding financial statements and requirements. She’s been with us as a public practice auditor since 1983! Did you know Heidi lived in Vancouver before moving to Calgary? As much as she liked it there, she loves the Alberta sunshine!

Nancy Murdoch


After finishing her Associate in Financial Management diploma, Nancy worked in accounting in the private sector for a while before going to work for public accounting firms. She has worked in British Columbia, Yellowknife, and High River before landing here in Calgary. She has also worked with Auditwatch Canada as an instructor offering courses all across Canada. As a Chartered Professional Accountant, she’s been with us as a public practice auditor since 2010. Did you know before becoming an accountant Nancy was a zookeeper for 8 years?

Michael Ihekuna


After earning a Bachelor of Finance degree, Michael became a member of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants in the United Kingdom, and a Masters of Business Administration. He also has his Certified General Accountant and Chartered Professional Accountant designations. Before joining our team as a public practice auditor in 2017, he worked with public accounting firms helping clients solve complex financial, business, and tax issues. Neve Iskander


Neve joined our team as a public practice auditor in 2018 with over 8 years experience in non-profit auditing, a Bachelor of Commerce, and her Chartered Professional Accountant designation. Shortly after becoming designated she moved into the corporate tax sector. After gaining  experience in this sector she realized her true passion was for non-profit organizations, the services they provide, and their impact on our communities. Reamarie Dela Cruz

File Manager/Audit Technician

Reamarie is from the Philippines and has lived in Calgary since 2012. She joined our team in 2014 with an International Qualification Degree in Canada for a one-year Masters of Business Administration degree and four-year Bachelor of Commerce degree focused on accounting, and business administration. She’s responsible for scheduling and preparing audit files and acting as the liaison between our members and the auditors. Did you know Rea loves spelunking; the hobby of exploring caves? She’s been inside a cave that’s 500 feet deep; the deepest cave in the Philippines!

Sophia Wu

Intermediate Audit Technician

Sophia joined our team in 2009 with a Diploma of Business Administration (Accounting major) from SAIT. Being an intermediate audit technician means she’s responsible for supporting the audit process by preparing audit files for the auditors and helping coach other staff when necessary.

Fateha Muzaffar

Audit Technician

Fateha immigrated to Calgary from Pakistan in 2003 with Bachelor of Administration in Economics and Math from Pakistan and has course certificates in bookkeeping. She worked as an accounting assistant at a public accounting firm before joining our team in 2017. As an audit technician she supports the audit process by preparing audit files for the auditors.
