Summer just got a little brighter at the Mount Pleasant Community Association’s (MPCA) Pool thanks to Lloyd Sadd Action Grants! Their
beloved outdoor swimming pool comes to life each summer with swim lessons,
public swims and private rentals. Thanks to Lloyd Sadd Action Grants, their
beloved planters (located around the pool) received a well-deserved refresh.

Built in 1953, these planters have been a staple of MPCA’s
Pool’s atmosphere. For the past 18 years, Judy, a dedicated community
volunteer, has poured her heart into maintaining them. This year, these iconic
planters get to bloom even brighter!

The planters needed quite a bit of tender loving-care, including repairs, plant pruning, and a complete overhaul to refresh the soil. Old soil was dug out and replaced with nutrient-rich compost – perfect for growing vegetables and flowering plants alike. Now, these planters aren’t just beautiful, they’re thriving community gardens! Judy, with the help of her family, planted a mix of zucchini, peppers, tomatoes and herbs alongside gorgeous perennials and flowering plants.

These planters look amazing and will continue to enhance the experience of very pool patron who visits the MPCA Pool.
