A message from the City of Calgary
Improvements Taking Place this Summer
This summer, Bowness Road N.W. will be re-paved between 70 Street N.W. and 60 Street N.W. At the same time, several mobility improvements will be made:
- Pedestrian improvements along the corridor
- Extension of the on-street bike lanes from 70 Street N.W.
- Adding dedicated left-turn lanes at 32 Avenue N.W. and 33 Avenue N.W. to improve traffic flow
- Pathway improvements and connections
- Improved waiting areas for transit users
- CP Rail underpass repair and pathway upgrades
- Intersection improvements and traffic calming measures at Bowwood Drive / 33 Avenue N.W. and Bowwood Drive / 64 Street / 36 Avenue N.W.
Public input, technical analysis and budget were all factors in determining the roadway design that is being implemented.

Parking changes
Some parking changes have resulted from the new road design. Parking has been added where possible, removed in some locations and shifted as needed to accommodate the overall improvements. The project team carefully considered several factors when deciding how to balance the needs of adjacent residents and businesses, stakeholders and people traveling on Bowness Road N.W.
The City understands parking loss is difficult and decisions about changes to roadways in established neighbourhoods often involve difficult trade-offs.
