The SNAP Building team form a house at the Fantastic Foursome photo contest hole at The Canal at Delacour Golf Club

Thanks to the help of our golfers, donors, volunteers, and sponsors, this year’s 6th Annual Chip in Fore Communities Golf Tournament on Friday, August 24 was an all-around success.

Our largest fundraiser of the year, we rely on the event to continue providing support to our 230 small non-profit member organizations, including Calgary’s 151 community associations.

Steve Norris, project manager at SNAP Building, regularly works with many community associations. This year, along with Apple Cleaning, SNAP became one of the event’s first Team Sponsors. New to 2018, the Chip In Team Sponsorship option gave businesses the opportunity to pay for a community volunteer to golf along-side them.

Both Norris and his teammate, Jay Meakin, president and planning director for the Highwood Community Association, had an awesome time together on the course. Norris says, “[the Federation] aligns with our company’s values. We’re trying to connect projects with community engagement early.”

Every year, almost 60% of the tournament’s players are local community volunteers. The event has always been for a way for like-minded people to come together for a fun, stress-free day on the course. This year, the event continued to be an outlet for both players, and businesses, to express their thanks and appreciation for those devoted to the health and vibrancy of their communities.

Nick Divincenzo from Sarina Homes also got to play alongside a local volunteer. He and his team were matched with Mohie Bakinson; a long-term board member with the Downtown West Community Association.

Divincenzo said that the sponsorship was a great fit for them, as “Naz Virani, the owner, is very invested in the communities of Marda Loop, Killarney, and Kensington, and he spends most of his time in the community with the associations, getting involved in making the communities a better place.”

Thank you to all our 2018 sponsors who teamed up in support us this year.

Together, a total of 12 sponsors contributed over $9,000 in direct funding, $700 in player funds, and over $800 of gifts-in-kind. A special shout-out goes to them, and big thank you to all the people who came to our tournament this year. We couldn’t do it without you!
