The Federation of Calgary Communities acknowledges that the remains of 215 children have been discovered on the grounds of Kamloops Indian Residential School. We join Canadians in expressing our shock and sincere condolences to the Tk’emlúps te Secwe̓pemc (taˈkamlups te she-KWE-pem] First Nations. This news is very upsetting, and the impact of this news is far reaching. It is difficult to imagine the full pain and anguish of the affected families as well as residential school survivors. Hearing, acknowledging, and learning from these truths are important in committing to future truth and reconciliation. The Federation is committed to continuing to learn and to share with our network opportunities that support Truth and Reconciliation Action #57. Read the full statement.
