Paint the Pavement with the CKE Community Association!

To calm the traffic at a very busy 4-way stop intersection, a group of dedicated community volunteers from the Chinook Kelvingrove Eagleridge communities designed a mural that was painted onto the pavement. The project was designed to bring awareness to drivers to slow down in the intersection, and stop for pedestrians when necessary. 40 people came out to volunteer, support and celebrate the mural’s completion!

Once the Chinook Kelvingrove Eagleridge (CKE) Community Association had obtained a permit from the City to close the intersection for the weekend, it became very easy to plan and paint the road. As this was such a large street mural – the paint alone cost over $1700.00 – more than the $750.00 received from ActivateYYC was needed. An additional $1400.00 from a Ward 11 Community Grant (still pending) and $270.00 from the CKE Community Association ensured this project was a success!
