1. Municipal Development Plan & Calgary Transportation Plan – Proposed Plans
The Municipal Development Plan (MDP) and Calgary Transportation Plan (CTP) are Calgary’s long-range land use and transportation plans. Did you know that these documents have recently undergone revisions? The proposed documents were recently presented to the Standing Policy Commission (SPC) on Planning and Urban Development on October 7 and were approved. They will now be presented to Council. 2. Neighbourhood Speed Limit Review
Neighbourhood speed limits in the City of Calgary have been reviewed. A report of the findings was presented to the Transportation & Transit Committee on September 30. Recommendations include changing the unposted speed limit from 50 km/h to 40 km/h within the city limits, with these recommendation going to Counsel to vote on. You can read the minutes by clicking the above link. You can make a submission using the public submission form and can register to speak at committee by emailing publicsubmissions@calgary.ca​.

3. Residential Parking Program Review
Changes have been proposed to the residential parking program; some of the proposed changes include implementing a fee for some users, increasing the fee for permits, and changes to visitor parking permits. These changes were presented at the Transportation and Transit Committee on October 21, please read the detailed report here.

4. Changes to Parking for Businesses
The City is proposing the removal of minimum requirements for businesses from the Land Use Bylaw to help businesses as they recover from the economic downturn and support Calgary’s climate goals . If the proposed changes are approved, it means that businesses and developers will determine their parking needs. Click the link above to read more on the proposed amendments.
