A message from the City of Calgary

The City of Calgary is working to make room growth and make our city more liveable by providing better transportation choices. Walkable and bikeable neighbourhoods help to create vibrant, healthy communities.

This project will improve safety and mobility for all users on Northmount Drive N.W.:

Starting at the end of June, Northmount Drive N.W. will be re-paved between Cambrian Drive N.W. to Carol Drive N.W. At the same time, several safety and operations improvements will be implemented. Phase 1 also includes the addition of 10 low-cost curb extensions along the corridor to improve pedestrian safety.

The curb extensions will be poured with concrete in Phase 2 when funding becomes available.

Phase 1 construction timeline

Construction will begin in late June 2017 and is expected to be complete in fall 2017.

Nearby businesses and residents will be notified prior to construction if access will be temporarily impacted. The City will make every effort to minimize disruptions during construction.

The curb extensions will be built off-site and moved in place by a truck-mounted crane. This work is expected to take place during off-peak hours and there will be minimal impacts during this time.

Construction is weather dependent and timelines may change.
