Village Brewery Neighbour Day Rebate
We’ve partnered with Village Brewery again this year to offer rebates to community associations for all Village purchases made by Calgarians throughout the month of June, in celebration of Neighbour Day! Empathy Week is June 1-7! Empathy Week is a seven-day festival of events that promote empathy, human connection and the recognition of our shared humanity. Empathy Week is a community initiative with numerous Calgary partner organizations and individuals coming together to host a variety of events. There is varied programming suitable for diverse audiences with wide-ranging interests and most events are free but low income subsidies for events with an entry fee can be requested by contacting email@example.com. Funding for Community-based Seniors Programs
The New Horizons Programs (NHSP) call for proposals is now open. NHSP is a federal grants and contributions program and this funding is looking to support projects that improve the wellbeing and quality of life of seniors and foster the social inclusion and engagement of older Canadians. The NHSP’s community-based stream supports activities that engage seniors and address one or more of the program’s five objectives: volunteering, mentoring, expanding awareness of elder abuse, social participation and capital assistance. Multi-Unit Toilet Replacement Program
The City of Calgary is offering a rebate for multi-unit building owners and condominium associations to replace their old water-guzzling toilets with high-efficiency WaterSenseTMlabelled toilets. The WaterSenseTM label identifies high-efficiency products that meet EPA criteria for both water efficiency and performance similar to the EnergyStarTM label for appliances. Municipal Development Plan Review
We have been working with other stakeholders to provide input on the direction for the Municipal Development Plan and Calgary Transportation Plan review. The City would like your input on what is important to the future of our city. Your input will be used to change or update policies that will shape the lives of Calgarians for the next 20 years. Update on 12 Infill Items
Last year, Council directed City administration to review 12 recurring and emerging issues related to infill development. On May 1st at the SPC on Planning and Urban Development, administration proposed 3 more amendments to the items on the list “Height, Tree Retention and Green Landscaping.” Administration will be presenting the latest amendments at City Council on June 17th. Banff Trail Area Improvements Project
The City of Calgary has combined the 16 Ave N.W improvement project to include improvement to adjacent areas such as Crowchild Trail, 24th Avenue, and Banff Trail. The City would like to address these projects holistically and accommodate future growth in the area and support the University Major Activity Centre as outlined by the Municipal Development Plan. Calgary Transit Mobile Ticketing Pilot
Calgary Transit is initiating a new pilot project which will offer users a new system that will allow riders to pay for and validate their transit fare using an app on their smartphones. The app is being tested on four routes for a 90-day period. Click the link above to read more.
