on their faces, ready for a fun afternoon of golf and networking. Click here to check out photos from the day.

These workshops will take place on Saturday, September 29 and October 20. Topics to be covered include: Developed Areas Guidebook, Community Representation Framework, District Local Area Planning, and Changes to the Land Use Bylaw. Click here to learn more.

Here are a few highlights from our urban planning world this month – be sure to check our blog for a complete listing of recent events and updates.

University of Calgary Visioning Opportunity: In this community partnership process, senior students and instructors from the Master of Planning Program in the Faculty of Environmental Design at the University of Calgary are partnered with 2 Calgary communities. They work on a variety of planning issues in consultation with selected community associations related to short term-problem solving and long-term visioning. The application for this opportunity closes on September 30.

Partners in Planning (PIP): We have been working with the City of Calgary to make exciting changes to the Partners in Planning curriculum. The changes include an overhaul of the core courses as well as an expansion of the elective courses to better suit community needs. If you have taken courses in previous years, don’t worry! We will still count it towards your certificate. Sign up for the first workshop of the 2018-2019 season by clicking the link!

Development Permit Public Notices are going digital. As of early 2019, public notices will include the physical notice board on site, an email circulation for those who sign up, PD Map, public notices online and circulations to the CA planning committee. Public notices will also no longer be posted in the Thursday edition of the Herald.

The Developed Areas Guidebook: The Developed Areas Guidebook (DAG) is going to CPC on September 20, PUD on October 1 and Council on November 12. Amendments will address employment, heritage policy, ensuring that the guidebook takes precedence, and the addition of 2 Land Use Districts.

Pedestrian Safety: Back to School
Students are going back to school this week, watch out for speed limits, stop signs, and playground zones. We can all begin to make proactive decisions while driving, walking and learn how we can slow the flow of traffic to make our communities safer.

Some absolutely awesome projects and events have been funded by ActivateYYC over the past year. Some of which even made the news! ActivateYYC has seen some especially unique projects pop up all over the city. Missed an event you were looking forward to? Well, don’t worry because we have you covered. We are going to highlight an ActivateYYC initiative every time Get Engaged comes out, starting … NOW!

Under the Rainbow
Let’s talk about Under the Rainbow! This mural is one of the most “Instagramable” murals in Calgary. It was painted to help brighten up a dark and bland space.
