We’re looking for the 2019 Faces of Community!
When you think about the faces of your community’s hard-working and inspiring volunteers, who do you see?
Nominate them to be one of the 2019 Faces of Community! We’re looking for 12 volunteers who are always
looking for new ways to improve their community, building community through activities that engage residents,

Special Workshops on Ongoing Planning Policy Projects
We have some really stimulating opportunities for engagement on the Developed Areas Guidebook, Community Representation Framework, District Local Area Planning, and Changes to the Land Use Bylaw. We’re working together with the City of Calgary to host two workshops on new changes to planning and the future of our city! These workshops will take place n Saturday, September 29 and October 20. University of Calgary Visioning Opportunity: The deadline for this amazing opportunity is quickly approaching! In this community partnership, senior students and instructors from the Master of Planning Program in the Faculty of Environmental Design at the University of Calgary are partnered with two Calgary communities. They work on a variety of planning issues in consultation with selected CAs related to short term-problem solving and long-term visioning. The application closes September 30.
Development Permit Public Notices are going digital. As of early 2019, public notices will include the physical notice board on site, an email circulation for those who sign up, PD Map, public notices online and circulations to the community association planning committee. Public notices will also no longer be posted in the Thursday edition of the Herald.
The Developed Areas Guidebook: The Developed Areas Guidebook (DAG) is going to CPC on September 20, PUD on October 1 and Council on November 12. Amendments will address employment, heritage policy, ensuring that the guidebook takes precedence, and the addition of two Land Use Districts.

Orange Shirt Day: Every Child Matters
Orange Shirt Day: September 30 is a legacy of the St. Joseph Mission residential school commemoration event held in Williams Lake in BC. This day has become an opportunity for communities to come together in the spirit of reconciliation and keep the discussion on residential schools active. Paint the Pavement with CKE!
Did you hear about the Paint the Pavement project that took place in the Chinook Park/Kelvin Grove/Eagle Ridge (CKE) communities? This beautiful road mural was painted in the middle of an intersection to remind drivers to slow down. While this mural was painted last summer, its purpose is still relevant. Now that school is back in session, murals like this one serve as a good reminder to slow down, especially in school zones.
