| Neighbour Day is One Month Away! Saturday, June 16th is an entire day dedicated to Calgarians getting to know their neighbours and exploring their community. How are you planning on being part of it? Whether it’s hosting your own event, encouraging your residents to plan their own, or simply promoting the initiative, Neighbour Day is an awesome opportunity for our network to promote the value and benefit of community involvement. | Village Brewery Beer Rebate In celebration of Neighbour Day, we have partnered with our buds at Village Brewery again this year to offer community associations a rebate on all beer purchases made throughout the month of June! What does this mean? When any Calgarian purchases Village beer anytime between June 1st to 30th, and gives a copy of their receipt to their local community association, the organization will get a 15% rebate on all beer purchases made throughout the month. As community associations you can also be part of this and use your beer purchases as part of the rebate! Village Brewery is always happy to work with community associations to provide you with beer for your summer events, and is flexible in helping work within your budget. Cultural Funding Opportunity From September 28th to 30th, Alberta Culture Days is the largest provincial celebration of arts, heritage, diversity, and community spirit. The Government of Alberta is offering grants up to $10,000 to help showcase our unique culture. Communities can also join the 800 places hosting sites for the event. | Community Representation Framework (CRF) Update The Federation of Calgary Communities Board of Directors has sent a letter to City Council outlining their concerns regarding the current Community Representation Framework (CRF) and the engagement process. After three and a half years, Carrie Yap will be moving on from the Federation of Calgary Communities. She would like to give a special thank you to everyone, and express that she has learned and gained so much as a planner. Carrie says she will take the “community” with her into her next position, and she asks that everyone please be patient on planning issues and inquiries within the next while, as we will be training a new replacement. We will miss you, and thank you to Carrie for all that she has done for all us.
