Before you read Get Engaged, I wanted to add a note letting you all know that after 8 wonderful years starting my career here at the Federation of Calgary Communities, I’m moving on to my next job adventure. Starting on Monday, May 27 I’ll be joining Bits In Glass, a software consulting company, as their Marketing and Communications Specialist.

This move is very bittersweet as I adore the Federation and the work we do, all of you and the passion you bring to volunteering in your communities, and the work I’ve done over the last 8 years, but I’m also extremely excited to take everything I’ve learned and apply it somewhere else!

Please be patient with the Federation as they transition my position. This email will still be monitored, and you can reach out to Nicole, our Communications Coordinator, with all your communications questions.

Thank you!

Here are a few highlights from our urban planning world this month. Be sure to check our blog for a complete listing of recent events and updates!

1. Calgary Transit On Demand
Do you or someone you know live in Carrington or Livingston? Calgary Transit is starting an on demand, shared-ride transportation service that will connect people to the North Pointe transit hub. The service starts on May 24th, and rides can be requested through the “Calgary Transit On Demand” app. Please click the link above to find out more about the project or stop by the open house tonight from 6:30-8:30pm.

2. Partners in Planning
Thank you to all that attended our “Partners in Planning courses” over the last few months. If you have completed all your courses and are eligible for your certificate this year, we will contact you before the end of the month. If you would like to attend the next round of courses, we will be announcing new dates soon. Please keep an eye on our website.

3. Bike Share Pilot
The City of Calgary wants your feedback on its bike share program. The City is currently running a pilot program that allows third-party vendors to operate bike share services in Calgary. To learn more about the project and participate in the survey, please click on the link above. The survey is open until May 31st.

4. Golf Course Real Estate and Development Feasibility
In November 2018 City Council instructed Administration to devise a plan for a real estate and development assessment of public golf courses, which could result in some golf courses being decommissioned or repurposed for other uses. Stage 1 of this project will be an assessment of these lands and administration will report back to council by early 2020. We will update you with more information as it becomes available.
