New Grants for Park Events The TD Park People Grants program has launched a new grant to support your 2018 park events! This means your organization may be eligible to receive a $2,000 grant to host community events in your local parks and green spaces to make them come alive with events like movie nights, harvest festivals and nature walks. Application deadline is March 5th and groups would be committed to hosting three park events between Earth Day and New Year’s Eve 2018. Changes to Employment Standards As of January 1, 2018 new changes came into effect that will have an impact on all employers. The broad areas that are changing include: absences from work, hours of work and rest, compressed work weeks, deductions, overtime, general holidays and pay, vacation and pay, termination and pay and youth employment. 2018 Alberta Health Community Symposium Communities ChooseWell is teaming up with the Alberta Cancer Prevention Legacy Fund to bring you their annual Healthy Community Symposium. The theme this year revolves around creating communities that enhance the health and sense of belonging for all community members, and the title is ‘Creating Communities for Everyone’. With Jim Diers, a community organizer, community developer, and founding director of Seattle’s Department of Neighborhoods, as keynote speaker this event will be one not to miss. The symposium will be held on March 7 & 8 at the Cranston Residents Association Hall. For more info or to register click here. |
