Beware of Fraudulent Emails!
We’ve heard from a few of you that there has been an increase in email scams lately, so be alert! If one of your fellow board members emails you asking you to transfer funds or make a payment, make sure you know their request is legit before processing anything! Many of these email scams look real and professional, so if you aren’t expecting this kind of request, give the board member a call before doing anything. If it is a scam, send a copy of the email to your Calgary Police Service Community Resource Officer (CRO) so they can look into it.
Emergency Preparedness Free Online Course
The City of Calgary’s free online course, Ready Calgary, is designed to inform, educate and build resiliency to the impacts of emergencies. Developed by the Calgary Emergency Management Agency (CEMA), the course helps Calgarians to practice emergency preparedness in their neighbourhoods and in their own homes. Click here to learn more or to take the course.
Tankless Hot Water Heater Rebate
Energy Efficiency Alberta is currently offering up to $1000 in rebate when you replace your home’s conventional storage tank water heater with a tankless water heater. ENERGY-STAR rated tankless water heater gives you the advantage of never running out of hot water and will also save you at least 30% on hot-water energy bills. Click here to get started.
Calgary Foundation’s Pitch Night
In partnership with RBC Foundation, a Neighbour Grants LIVE event encourages Calgarians to pitch their ideas to improve, enhance, or revitalize their community or neighbourhood. Up to 10 projects are invited to ‘pitch’ their ideas to a live studio audience. The live studio audience’s vote helps Calgary Foundation award up to $50,000 to winning groups in grants ranging from $3,000 – $10,000 at the event on April 6. Click here to apply by February 26!
Here are a few highlights from our urban planning world this month. Be sure to check our blog for a complete listing of recent events and updates!
