Please be aware of scam emails
We have heard from one of our member organizations that they have received a scam email from someone impersonating their treasurer. Please remain vigilant as you may see an increase in scam emails during this time. Please see our ‘Featured Resource’ section below for resources to help you protect your organizations from these potential risks.

Here are a few highlights from our urban planning world this month. Be sure to check our blog for a complete listing of recent events and updates!

1. Established Area Growth and Change Strategy
The Established Area Growth and Change Strategy (the “Strategy”) is broadly focused on helping growth in established areas of Calgary that is aligned with policy, supported by the market and financially sustainable. It will be presented to the Priorities and Finance Committee of Council today, April 29, at 9:30 am. The meeting agenda can be accessed by the above link. The meeting can be live streamed here.

2. School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape – Crossroads Studio Project
Students in their final year of the Master in Planning program at the University of Calgary have been working in collaboration with the Crossroads Community Association. If you would like to see what the students have been working on, click the above link.

3. Development Map
The City of Calgary’s Development Map is a convenient way to inform citizens and community associations of applications in their areas. They can also submit their comments, concerns or support through the email function embedded in the map. Emails submitted through the map go directly to the Planner reviewing the file. To access the map, click the above link. Look out for more improvements to the map.

4. Development Appeal Periods
On April 17, The Government of Alberta signed a new Ministerial Order which rescinded the Order signed on March 31. The original order caused unintentional permit delays and affected appeal deadlines for development permit and subdivision applications, as well as unintentionally delayed construction of those developments. For more information on the new order, click the above link.
