As part of the Main Streets project, redesignations (changes in zoning) and Area Redevelopment Plan amendments have recently been approved for 16 Avenue NW (Montgomery), Bowness Road NW (Montgomery), 37 Street SW and 17 Avenue SW (west of Crowchild Trail).
The idea behind these redesignations and amendments is to increase the population along Main streets and promote a greater variety of local businesses and services as new developments are introduced. Programs related to street design, heritage, and parking are also being looked at for these areas.
