Updates
On December 13th, the Federation read its letter in support of the Infill Scoping Report to the Standing Policy Committee on Planning and Urban Development (PUD). The Committee asked Administration to report back on phase 1 by fall 2018, and on phase 2  by winter 2018. Administration was also asked to look into front setbacks as part of Phase 2.

On December 18th, the Infill Scoping Report and the R-CG Monitoring report were added as items of Urgent Business and the recommendations in the reports were approved by Council. Council didn’t ask for a presentation on either topic. Administration will be committed to working on these projects in the new year.

Background Information on the Infill Scoping Report:
In April 2017, Council directed Administration to develop a scoping report on whether to move forward with Land Use Bylaw (LUB) amendments for 11 issues related to infill development and report back by December. Administration proposed a 2-phased approach to addressing these items. Phase 1 is designed to allow for immediate resolution of specific issues on a shorter timeline through technical Land Use Bylaw amendments. Phase 2 deals with the 7 remaining items (eave and peak height, massing, hardscape coverage, green landscaping, non-conforming lots, materials and vehicle loading and storage), which impact all infill districts and require a more comprehensive review.

Background Information on the R-CG Monitoring Report:
The R-CG monitoring report tracks application data for the R-CG District, which was adopted in October 2014. It identifies issues that have been consistently raised at Public Hearings of Council and by the Calgary Planning Commission. The R-CG Monitoring Report is available on the Calgary Planning Commission Website at: https://www.calgary.ca/PDA/pd/Pages/Public-notices/Calgary-Planning-Commission-agenda.aspx
