Westgate School decided it needed to spruce up its playground by adding the perfect thing: A Friendship Bench. Now, you are probably wondering what is a friendship bench? Well, it’s an awesome bench where a kid who want to make a friend sits and once seated, other kids know that the kid sitting on the bench needs a friend and invites him or her to come play.

This idea was taken over by the fourth graders at the Westgate School, who picked out the bench and its location. Over 550 kids will get to use the bench and make new friends! Of the 550+ students, 77 of them along with four teachers will lead by example and show the students how to use the bench. The organizer is excited to see how this bench will help the students make friends. All of the ActivateYYC funds went towards purchasing the bench.
