Find your Path

The Urban Calgary Students’ Assocation (UCSA) decided to engage the students of the University of Calgary with an interactive art installation. In February 2019, the UCSA built the installation which asked some great questions. The artwork listed four questions: what is important to you, how do you describe yourself, where do you see yourself in 10 years, and what is something you want to improve on. Under each question was a list of answers and a thumbtack. Students were encouraged to take a piece of colourful yarn and wind it around the tack they believe represented their answer.

The organizers were unsure if anyone would interact with the art, but after one week it was full of yarn! The organizers describe it as a “colourful interactive mosaic of different life experiences.” This ActivateYYC project did not need any permits, so the funds went towards materials.
