Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design or CPTED (pronounced sep-ted) is a concept and series of strategies that enhances safety by influencing the physical design of our environment and encourages positive social interaction. These strategies include things such as natural access control, natural surveillance, and territorial reinforcement. CPTED recognizes that our environment directly affects our behavior because we constantly respond to what is around us. These responses help us interact safely in our communities. Join Shirin as she explains the value of CPTED in Calgary communities.  You will also have the opportunity to meet one of our Urban Planners to network and discuss how CPTED and planning can work together.
