Fairview Poster

Imagine Fairview is a collaborative project led by Fairview Community Association, The Federation of Calgary Communities, and The University of Calgary’s senior Urban Studies class, led by Professor Geoff Ghitter. Every year, the Federation and the U of C work together with a community to develop a vision for future community development. These projects are an opportunity for communities to envision the potential that surrounds them, developing a shared vision for the future. This is a proactive step towards developing guidelines and priorities for future development.

This is a grass-roots, collaborative process: we’ll talk about urban planning and transportation issues, but you don’t need to be an expert to participate. We just need you to share your experience and ideas for Fairview!

The project happens in two stages: first, there will be a collaborative and participatory session held on January 30 from 9am until noon at Fairview Baptist Church (230 78 Ave SE). At this session, we’ll talk about things like Fairview’s strengths, what is blocking potential, and how you would improve Fairview. These discussions will help University of Calgary Urban Studies students develop a guide for the future of Fairview. Then, in April 2016, the students will report back to the community with their documented community vision and recommendations for the community.
