Creating tools for growth in Developed areas – Follow up event
Last June, The City of Calgary held an event for communities to discuss a number of planning projects, including the Developed Areas Guidebook, that were underway, This was to provide information to communities so they could have a better understanding of the projects being worked on, their relationships to one another, and the impacts they may have on communities. The City of Calgary would like to hold another event on March 28th, 2017, to provide an update on these projects and answer any questions.
The City’s Planning & Development work includes actions to address challenges while staying committed to our vision – Calgary: a great place to make a living, a great place to make a life for generations to come. Our coordinated approach includes:
- Enhancing neighbourhoods by increasing opportunities for mixed use and new housing, development supporting businesses and improving public spaces around new LRT stations and on main streets.
- Removing the barriers to developing housing and other development that benefit communities, promote quality buildings and ensure infill complements the existing character.
- Promoting a pedestrian friendly environment, while enhancing the streets to accommodate both cycling and vehicular circulation, and increased transit ridership.
Members of the project teams will be available to provide an update on the following projects:
- The Developed Areas Guidebook
- The Centre City Guidebook
- The Main Streets initiative
- The Green Line station area planning
- Local Area Plans for: Millican-Ogden, East Village, Inglewood, Ramsay, Downtown West, South Hill and Chinatown
- Urban Design Guidelines & Multi-residential Guidelines
- Land Use Bylaw Districts
Please note this is an information on the coordination of all these projects.
