Airport Community Consultative Committee (ACCC)

Hello Community Members,

here are some quick updates for those of you who were unable to attend the ACCC meeting on Thursday August 24th, 2017. These notes are not official and more detail including the minutes and the presentation can be found on the Calgary Airport Authority website. • The Calgary Airport Authority current has 16  permanent NMT (noise monitoring Terminals) in the community. NMTs monitor the sound levels associated with community noise and can be used to correlate noise events associated with aircraft operations. NMTs are a useful tool in tracking and monitoring community noise levels over time.Locations of the NMTs are based on:
  • Flight track information
  • Residential communities (public locations away from ambient noise)
  • Existing NMT locations
    • Future potential locations for NMTs may be located in:
      • Evergreen
      • Douglasdale
      • Riverbend/Ogden
      • Airdrie & North Communities
      • Signal Hill
      • Edgemont
      • Hawkwood
  • In the next two years, the Calgary Airport Authority will plan to evaluate the existing locations and replace the equipment.
• Airport Authority will be releasing a new website that will be more user friendly.
  • If there is ever an issue with an application on the website such as “public view” please report this to the airport
• NavCanada has released a proposal to create a balance for the use of runway 17 on the weekends
  • This proposal is to address community concerns about noise and the request to use runway 17 more on weekends and nights
  • This proposal will start in October and last for 6 months
  • The primary departure for weekends will be on:
    • 17 Left on odd number days from 7 am to 11 pm
    • 17 right on even number days  from 7 am to 11 pm
    • Midnight shift will not change
  • For safety and operations concerns, there may be deviations from this schedule or this pilot may end completely.
