We are excited to announce that our 2013-14 Workshop Guide is now live and full of many new and exciting workshops including the Building Safe Communities newly launched Partners in Crime Prevention Workshop Series in partnership with Calgary Police Service. These workshops are geared towards helping community association volunteers learn valuable information about crime prevention and safety issues in their neighbourhoods from our trusted partners. Topics of this year’s series will include cyber-crime, graffiti, and more!

We are also proud to offer two new communications workshops this year! One will cover the basics of Twitter: how to tweet, use hash tags, and other useful tips and tricks. The second workshop will cover engaging the media: how to write a proper news release, how to send it out, and how to prepare for a potential interview.

In addition, we have our popular line-up of monthly administrator’s meetings and board workshops on topics of value to facility managers and board members. This year’s line-up introduces topics like compliance, hall rental safety, engaging diverse populations, insurance, and more.

As always, Partners in Planning (PIP), our award winning certificate program, is back for another year of courses. This year, we announce two new elective courses: Planning for Growth and Change, which will cover The City of Calgary’s 60-year plan, and Community Character which will discuss how the look and feel of places makes them attractive (or not!).

Last, but certainly not least, we have a great selection of financial workshops for both the experienced and inexperienced accountant/bookkeeper on topics such as understanding treasurer’s reports, reading financial statements, understanding GST, and much more!

As you can see, we have workshops for all types of community association volunteer, with many more that aren’t listed above, so we invite you attend any that speak to you!
