The Federation’s Celebrating Communities department is dedicated to just that: celebrating communities. This is done through volunteer recognition, special events, awareness building, and communications support.
The Celebrating Communities department also produces Get Engaged!, the Federation’s monthly newsletter. Click here for a list of monthly newsletters.
The Federation of Calgary Communities produces a monthly newsletter titled “Get Engaged” that includes Federation news and updates, not-for-profit best practice articles, city-wide initiatives, and more. The newsletter is sent electronically to community association members, service members, partners, and sponsors.
Please view the Get Engaged Information Sheet for advertising rates and deadlines.
The Federation of Calgary Communities hosts a yearly volunteer recognition event to bring together community volunteers and celebrate their hard work and dedication. The highlight of the event is the presentation of four awards, to outstanding community volunteers, titled the Encana Community Volunteer Awards.

The Federation also attends regular community events or Annual General Meetings to present our “Toole Peet Community Hero Awards”. These awards are volunteer recognition certificates that honour individuals or groups who have made outstanding contributions to their community. Awards applications are ongoing, and can be presented year-round.
