Over 40 community associations joined us in participating in the Mayor's Annual Christmas Food Drive and we raised a total of 6,000 lbs of food for the Calgary Food Bank, which equals more than $16,000! Thank you to all who took part!

Community Association Opportunities Survey The City of Calgary’s Planning & Development area implemented a survey to solicit views and perspectives about their interactions with Community Associations across Calgary. Learn more about what they heard here.
Land Use Bylaw Amendments: food growing, processing and distribution The City of Calgary is reviewing rules for growing, processing, and distributing food. The purpose of the review is to ensure there are opportunities for businesses and individuals to produce food in the city. The review is planned to include the indoor and outdoor growing of food, small scale food processing and opportunities for growing food to support other uses or temporary uses. Crowchild Trail Study In February and March, Calgarians are invited to attend one of several drop-in sessions to see how ideas from November are being used to develop preliminary concepts. You will be able to see what commonly-heard ideas look like when applied to the Crowchild Trail corridor, and help the project team evaluate ideas against the study’s three key principles. Event details will be on www.calgary.ca/crowchild by end of January.
Green Line Starting in February 2016, public engagement will begin on the north and centre city sections of the Green Line. The engagement program will be focused on identifying issues and opportunities with the route and determining if it can be underground, at ground level, or elevated. We will also be discussing station locations, and identifying TOD opportunities along the line. Click here to learn more.

At their February 3 meeting, the City’s Standing Policy Committee on Community and Protective Services will be discussing the future of the relationship between resident’s associations and community associations. They will be hearing from City staff who have been asked by council to produce a scoping report on the subject. This should be an interesting discussion! You can watch here.
