About the Federation
Few cities in Canada have organizations like the Federation. We are a not-for-profit umbrella organization that is proud to serve as a convenor and supporter of Calgary's community associations. Through specifically designed programs and services, we assist communities in urban planning and administering their associations.
Calgary's first community association was formed in the 1920s. By the 1950s, an expanded number of community associations fostered the need for a united association of community representatives. Approximately 40 communities came together to form The Federation. On August 10, 1961, The Federation was reorganized and registered under the Alberta Societies Act as a not-for-profit society. In 1971 an office was created and full time staff was hired. For our mission, values and history click here...
